Training meetings are on the first Thursday of the month.
Business meetings are on the third Thursday of the month.
Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at the New Strawn Fire Station, at 7:30 PM.
Any one living in the New Strawn first response area is invited to become a member.
The auxiliary provides funds for fire victims.
| New Strawn City Lake From an old, nearly silted in farm pond to a renovated, 3.5 acre City lake, New Strawn's City Lake has become a center of recreational sport fishing. Outdoor Kansas for Kids-Coffey County
OK Kids is an annual, free event with a chance for participants to experience numerous outdoor games and events. A part of the Outdoor Kansas for Kids is held at the city lake. There are additional activities at John Redmond Reservoir including games, rope course, canoing, bike rides, a bike rodeo, clay shooting, hayrides, lunch and dinner. Coffey County Library - New Strawn Branch

The newest branch of Coffey County Library is in New Strawn, Kansas. The New Strawn Branch was completed in 1997. The doors opened on October 13 and the grand opening was held on November 16 to coincide with National Children's Book Week.
The New Strawn Branch is located off U.S. Highway 75 at 365 North Main. The branch caters to people of all ages but the emphasis on collection is with materials for youth up to ninth grade, senior citizen material, and popular best sellers.
Services include Inter-Library Loan, fax machine use, public computers, a typewriter, a Xerox copy machine for public use, story times for various age children, and some adult programming. Material format includes books, large print books, books on tape and CD, videos, music CDs, educational and instructional CD-ROM programs, and video games in several different formats. Computers with public Internet access are also available.
